Vehicle Description
1953 CHEVROLET 210 SERIES FOUR-DOOR SEDAN C-978 This 1953 Chevrolet
210 Series Four-Door Sedan recently purchased in Williamston,
Michigan, in 2002, and given a methodical restoration. Beginning
with installation of a new interior and a full repaint along with
having all the chrome redone. The side window glass was replaced
during the restoration. The original engine was rebuilt in 2020.
The car is an excellent road car as witnessed by antique car tours
to Michigan, Vermont, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West
Virginia, New Hampshire, Ohio, South Carolina, and Nova Scotia,
Canada. The car received a First Place Senior Award from the VCCA
in 2011. POWERTRAIN The 235-cu.in. OHV inline-six, which Chevrolet
rated at 115 horsepower when new, was rebuilt in 2020 and had seen
a mere 1,200 miles of use since then. Cold starts are "no problem"
and the engine idles smoothly with no smoke. The engine has "no
leaks" and the engine "runs great." The fuel lines are stainless
steel. The Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission shifts very
smoothly with no odd noises. A new muffler was installed in 2021
and a new battery in 2022. EXTERIOR The car was last repainted in
2005 and the overall condition of the black paint is "excellent,".
There are no dents or chips and only very few nicks noticeable. The
side windows have been replaced along with the seals so there are
no leaks. The car has "no rust" and all the lights work. The chrome
was redone. INTERIOR "Outstanding" easily describes the condition
of the gray cloth upholstery. Both the carpet and headliner are in
"great" condition. All trim items are present and the gauges and
heater work properly. The car has a radio but it isn't working
currently. CHASSIS New shocks, bushings, and steering arms were
installed in 2008, there is no play in the steering and the car
goes "straight down the road." The brakes work great with a firm
pedal, and new stainless steel brake lines have been installed. The
wheels have no pitting and no vibrations at highway speeds. Coker
American Classic wide-whitewall radial tires were reportedly
installed in 2019 and have less than 2,000 miles of use.
