For Sale: 1955 Studebaker Champion in Mesa, Arizona

Vehicle Description

This 1955 Studebaker Champion is an upgraded package that delivers the best of everything. After all, you get the rare and swoopy Studebaker coupe design. But now it comes with thoughtful details, a loaded leather interior, cold-blowing A/C, a five-speed, and fuel-injected small block power.

The Champion returned for 1955 with a new front-end design that many find quite desirable. It was a single-year appearance that felt a bit more European that the cars, and it certainly stood out more than the traditional 1956 design. But what makes this one truly distinct is the amount of work that has gone into it to make it subtly sleeker and sportier. The white paint is a later upgrade where the deep gloss gives a smooth destination to the distinct front end, angular roof, and stylish rear with just a hint of tailfin. The dual exhaust tips have a nice polish to get them noticed, the tinted windows contrast the paint nicely, and the salt-flat inspired Rocket Racing wheels add to a nice stance. From a distance, the front fenders look like they have glittering side trim, but it's really just well-done paint. And it's no accident if it reminds you of a '55 Bel Air - it's a bit of a hint at what's under the hood.

The red interior gives this a bold look and a deep sophisticated tone to really showcase this full custom setup. This has been upgraded to supple leather upholstery, and the way everyone gets individual space, including the rear, really makes this feel like a thoughtful classic. And this knows how to keep everyone comfortable with upgrades like cold-blowing air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB and Bluetooth. And we particularly like how this one was built to be an upgraded driver. You have a Billet Specialties steering wheel on a polished tilt column, and that gives you a nice view of the full Dakota Digital gauge package set in the classic Studebaker panel. There's even updated electric power steering. And have you counted the gears on the Hurst shifter yet?

The motor knows how to take center stage in this engine bay. Clean and dark inner walls funnel your attention to a tidy and bright V8 in the middle. This is a 350 cubic-inch crate motor with nice updates like an Edelbrock intake and MSD ignition. And as the fender callouts hinted, this Chevy motor is topped with electronic fuel injection. It's a powerful and useful kind of setup, and so they added a Borg Warner T5 five-speed manual transmission to give you the best in control and versatile ratios. As you look underneath, the clean undercarriage showcases nice upgrades like the wrapped H-pipe exhaust, a Ford 9-inch rear, front disc brakes, and Ridetech shocks.

Complete with maintenance records, this is a single-year design of an already rarely-seen Studebaker. So when something this interesting is also upgraded for this kind of power, style, comfort, and consistency, you know it's an awesome all-around driver's classic. Call today!!!
