This 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was acquired by the previous owner in
August 1978, and it has since resided in California. The car is
powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual
transmission, and it is finished in Ivory over red MB-Tex
upholstery. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front
suspension and rear swing axles with coil springs. Equipment
includes a replacement black convertible soft top, a red top boot,
a rear "Kinder" jump seat, lap belts, 13? steel wheels with covers
mounted with 205/70 Michelin XDX-B tires that were installed in May
2019. The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four features a pair of Weber
carburetors that were installed in September 2015 along with a
replacement distributor. The starter was replaced in February 2017,
and an oil change was performed in 2023. The removed carburetors
are included in the sale. Additional equipment includes a
driver-side mirror and a bright windshield surround, grille, and
bumpers. The car has been the subject of a seven-year refurbishment
under previous ownership, and service in May 2019 included
overhauling the brakes, replacing the tires, and changing the
differential bushings, seals, and boots. The mufflers were replaced
in July 2014, and the differential boots, bushings, and seals were
replaced in May 2019. An Ivory steering wheel frames VDO
instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm
tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature,
and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 81k miles. This 190SL
is now offered with a data card, service records, spare parts, and
a clean Pennsylvania title that lists the car as a 1959
example.
