For Sale: 1965 Mercedes-Benz 250SE in Shell, Wyoming

Vehicle Description

The VIN shows that we started the restoration of this car as a 220 SE Automatic. As this is my daily driver during Summer, we installed a 250 SE engine (brandnew) and manual transmission. Frame off restoration in 2010. Manual sunroof. The interior, paint, lining, carpets, radio are new. The front seats are leather. Rear seats are vinyll. The wood has been refinished. The bumpers have been stripped and rechromed, and with exception of some cosmetic little dents the chrome is excellent. Most rubbers have been replaced. New tires, new modern radio, automatic antenna, new shocks, entirely new exhaust system,..
Technical work was performed by Startech Mercedes, a specialized vintage Mercedes specialist in Aurora near Denver Colorado also performed the following repairs / improvements / upgrades:

New headliner, front disc brakes, rear swing spring axle system (so the car does not sit low / saggy as on the old pictures), coil springs, spring pad, set timing and adjust swell, replaced ok but not super performing bendix / starter, steering box coupler, steering box and seals, power steering. Heaterbox has been replaced and the heater is working well. Also the radiator and many other parts have been replaced since 2010. We replaced the hinges on both front doors as the doorhinges were bend opening the doors in heavy wind. Hence the little dents from the doors (see pictures). Some scratches and little dents in the body work. The sunroof has been repainted and there are two scratchen on the roof from driving in the underground garage for winter storage.

In 2022 we replaced the engine with a brandnew long block engine ($9500), from Metric Motors in San Diego, installed by Star Tech Mercedes in Aurora Denver. Over $17,000 repairs and improvements, including the installment of the new engine were performed.

In addition to this most steering and suspension parts have been replaced by original Mercedes part shipped from Germany. 14 inch wheels. We only drive this car in summer time. Daily driver during Summer in Wyoming in very dry climate. We regulartly drive the car to do errants putting on 200 miles a day. We also drove the car several times across The Big Horn Mountain range up and down Highway 14 to Sheridan, which is one of the steeper mountain passes in the area crossing 9500 ft. The car always performed very well.
We have invested well over $40,000 in this car. We are selling this car because the closest specialised vintage Mercedes specialist is in Denver which is 800 miles away.
