For Sale: 1993 Mitsubishi 3000 in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

It seemed ahead of its time when it was first released and, even after three decades, it's still looking sharp. Featuring a high impact color scheme draped over its aerodynamic form, this 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT is one fun ride. For about a decade, its model served as its manufacturer's centerpiece - and rightfully so. Having logged only about 76,000 miles over the course of its lifetime, it still has plenty more fun-filled miles left to offer and it will do so while featuring a running condition that has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

The bar for success was set pretty high when the 3000GT was first created. Debuting at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show, the concept cars that served as its predecessors were designed to compete with a handful of ultra-popular performance-centric cars that had ruled its class and luckily those concept cars garnered a positive reception. A couple of the prerequisites for a competitive design were a road-hugging stance and an aerodynamic exterior that would not only draw attention but provide a low drag coefficient in the process. Mission accomplished on both fronts. Wearing sharp red paint ornamented by contrasting stripes, it's a great looking car. Its contoured form features an inclined stance that's positioned close enough to the asphalt to create a low center of gravity for spirited handling, but not so low as to be impractical for everyday driving conditions. Up front, a pair of popup headlights are a key styling element of this car's futuristic design, and they lift up on cue and sit flush in their lowered positions. The contoured spoiler in back adds a nice, sporty touch.

Take a peek inside and you'll find a contrasting black cloth interior that still has plenty more life left in it - you might find signs of light wear here and there, but certainly not to the extent that you would expect on a car of this age. Everything inside the doors remains in stock configuration, with only two exceptions. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo that includes both an auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity sits in place of the original, offering a substantially upgraded audio experience, and a replacement shift knob adds a bit of distinction to the interior as it sits above a center console that's still in great shape. Smooth but responsive power steering makes this innately agile 3000GT easy to navigate, while air conditioning that's operating in top form will keep things nice and cool inside the cockpit. Additional convenience features include power windows and mirrors and a rear window defogger.

Not many cars of this Mitsubishi's vintage can match its road-ready driving condition. Powered by a 3.0-liter fuel injected V6, this is a fun car to drive. It accelerates with enthusiasm and its featured 5-speed manual transmission shifts as smoothly as you could want. With power disc brakes in both front and back - a pretty novel configuration some 30 years ago - you'll enjoy dependable, fade-resistant stops. A set of jet-black 18" wheels wrapped with Nitto tires is a nice accompaniment to this distinctive looking car.

There aren't many specimens of this model on the road anymore - there were only about 15,000 of its kind made during the model's entire 9-year run and most have fallen by the wayside - so this 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT offers a great driving experience packaged in a car that you aren't likely to come across very often in your travels.
